Do You Know San Jose? - San Jose Jazz

Do You Know San Jose?

Our traveling concert series explores the music and special places of San Jose.

Discover the sound of San Jose

On four consecutive Friday evenings between August 26 and September 16, 2022, discover some of downtown San Jose District 3 parks with free live music on the SJZ Boombox Truck plus a food truck, beer garden and vendors.

Beginning in 2019, DYKSJ has invited the public to explore San Jose’s rich cultural vibrancy at our series of free concerts featuring a variety of musicians and cultural activities. Popping up in every corner of the city, the events allowed attendees to discover new music, things to do and places to visit—plus, special experiences that only San Jose has to offer.

Do you know San Jose?

The DKYSJ project is supported through the generosity of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

About the Project

In response to the 50th anniversary of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David ode to our city “Do you Know the Way to San Jose?” we asked the musical questions: “What is the soundtrack of San Jose, today?” What part does live music play in our city’s social life? How can music help us explore and celebrate San Jose rich, hyper-local cultures?

2019 partnering events and locations across the city included Eastridge Center, San Jose Flea Market, the Rose Garden, Calabazas Park, Meadowfair Park, Valle Verde Seedling Market, San Jose’s Rose Garden, History San Jose, Village Fest, Japantown Immersive, SoFA Street Fair, and more. Featured musicians include emerging San Jose-based jazz, hip-hop, indie rock, Latin jazz, electronic, soul and R&B, world, Latin alternative, DJs, and more paired with nationally recognized acts in similar musical styles.
