A San Diego native, Michael O’Neill began studying clarinet at age eight. After graduate school in Texas, he returned to the Bay Area and studied with the great Joe Henderson. For this special concert, Michael O’Neill is joined by Grammy winning vocalist Tony Lindsay. They’ll perform material from their album Pacific Standard Time and material from an upcoming Latin jazz album.
Michael has created several groups of outstanding musicians that feature his original music. In addition, he has composed scores for documentaries, feature films and television for which he has a long list of credits.
He’s performed and/or recorded with many jazz greats including Idris Muhammad, Joe Locke, Michael Wolff, Giacomo Gates, Eddie Fisher, Rodney Jones, Kim Nalley, Jackie Ryan, Tony Lindsay, Margie Baker, Akira Tana, Faye Carol, Brenda Boykin, Nicolas Bearde, Jeff Chambers, Rob Schneiderman, Mark Levine, Frank Jackson, Frank Martin, Larry Dunlap, Bobbi Norris, Peter Horvath, Matt Clark, Smith Dobson, Don Haas, Dave Matthews, Michael Bluestein, Omar Clay, Scott Morris and many others.
As lead singer for the legendary band Santana for 25 years, Tony Lindsay has acquired a shelf full of Grammys, toured the world and recorded seven albums, including 1999’s Supernatural, which garnered eight 2000 Grammy Awards, breaking Michael Jackson’s record for the most wins in a single night. An accomplished songwriter, he has penned songs for Tevin Campbell, Johnny Gill, Shaniece and Diana Ross.
