Mason Razavi is a jazz guitarist with a growing profile in the SF Bay Area and beyond and was a 2021 recipient of the Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists Award. For this performance, Mason is joined by special guests Southern California pianist Josh Nelson and Las Vegas-based saxophonist Charles McNeal.
Based right here in San Jose, Mason’s groups have performed at SF Jazz, San Jose Jazz, and Bach Dancing and Dynamite as well as many Bay Area jazz clubs and concert series. His albums have often featured ambitious original music that has been warmly received by jazz radio worldwide.
An avid educator, Mason is an adjunct professor at West Valley College, where he is a lecturer and jazz guitar instructor. He has taught at Chabot College, De Anza College, Las Positas College, and Mission College, and maintains a private studio.
Mason holds holds a MA in music with a concentration in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University and a BM from the Berklee College of Music where he majored in Contemporary Writing and Production.
