Bay Area based bassist and composer Frunkyman (Miguel Leyva) has a passion for jazz and funk, leading him to create the unique “Frunkyman” sound. A recent graduate of SJSU’s Jazz Studies Master’s Program, he works as a session musician, arranger and composer, mostly for cinematic projects in LA. Projects he’s been involved with include Genius: Picasso, FIFA 2018, Drifting Dragons, and the 2018 Video Game Awards as a studio musician.
San Jose Jazz’s series of live music events exploring the iconic and special places of San Jose returns, with four shows on consecutive Fridays starting August 26. This time out, we’re exploring the beautiful parks of Downtown San Jose’s District 3. Open spaces are always a great destination for walking, picnicking and family fun, but we’re rolling out the SJZ Boombox Truck with great free live music, DJ openers from The Changing Same, a food truck, beer garden and vendors to turn the park into a party from 5 to 8:30pm.
