Charlie Bereal - San Jose Jazz

Charlie Bereal

Fri, Nov 17
7pm Doors, 8pm showtime (Pacific)
$25 / SJZ Break Room

Charlie Bereal is a soulful wonder. He taught himself how to play guitar at age nine, and he grew up playing music in his grandfather’s church. He went into the professional music arena at the age of 16 with his brother Kenneth Bereal and became one of the most sought after touring guitar players in the industry. Charlie sums things up best when he says, “As far as my music, I love all types of music. I love epic sounding music and you can hear that in my work. I love soul, and I love honesty in music, and that’s what my music is.”

Charlie has fluent abilities in multiple genres including hip-hop, R&B, soul,  gospel, pop and rock.  He was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the Grammy Award nominated gospel quartet The Soul Seekers and has accompanied almost every chart-topping act in the music industry. His fingers have laced guitar melodies on some classic songs such as "More Than a Woman" by Aaliyah, "One Minute Man" by Missy Elliott, "Love is Like Whoa" by Mýa, and "Do What it Do" by Jamie Foxx to name a few.  Other credits include Jay Z, Ja Rule, P Diddy, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, Ashanti, Brandy, Mario, Tweet, Missy Elliott and Toni Braxton.

Charlie has also appeared on numerous television and award shows such as The Tonight Show, Mad TV, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, BET’s Pepsi Smash, the ESPY Awards, the Soul Train Music Awards, the Lady Of Soul Awards and Grammy Awards.

Now he's making new waves as an independent artist with songs like “Walk the Streets of Love,” a refreshing and upbeat, soulful blast from the past.
