Philly Goes West is a very special, one time performance.  Every artist associated with the project currently lives in, grew up in, or spent their formative years in Philadelphia and bears marks of the artistic attitudes (pronounced add-ee-tude) of that city.  Since performing together in Philadelphia, these musicians have toured internationally with numerous projects, won Grammy awards, been featured on dozens of albums, and are incredibly excited to reunite.  Over the last 20 years, the members have been slowly migrating westward with three members of the group now residing in the Bay Area.  Individual touring schedules have coincided to allow for this incredibly special reunion.  Please join us as Philly Goes West.

Originally a native of the Philadelphia suburbs, Schultz has performed and studied throughout the Northeast completing a Masters of Music degree at the University of the Arts in 2008, a Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY at Purchase College in 2004, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Colorado in 2014. He is the Director of Jazz Studies at Santa Clara University and Director of San Jose Jazz’s Summer Jazz Camp.

Tony Peebles holds a BA in Music Theory from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He currently teaches in the Roots, Jazz and American Music program at the prestigious San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Since this time he has enjoyed a diverse career, having shared the stage with Stanley Clarke, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Kool and the Gang, Father John Misty and The O’Jays.
