A Blockbuster Opening Night - San Jose Jazz

A Blockbuster Opening Night

Summer Fest 2024 promises a breakout Friday night with international stars, regional gems and exciting new discoveries. Whether you’re a GA attendee planning to hang at the Jay Paul Company Main Stage or an All Stages or above ticket holder seeking concerts by great jazz artists in intimate indoor stages, Friday Night starts off the Fest with a bang.

We’ve landed UK R&B superstars Incognito to headline the Main Stage on Friday, supported by NOLA’s rollicking New Breed Brass Band and the legendary Family Stone, playing their classic hits and more in a high-energy performance.

The PG&E Park Avenue Stage, with its huge, GA dance floor right up front, is the perfect location for soul rocker Black Joe Lewis and Las Cafeteras, a Latin alternative band from East LA that takes folk music into the future. Tia Carroll Band appears on the Blues/Big Easy Stage to captivate the South end of the park with an up-beat, engaging performance.

On the SJZ Break Room Stage, cutting-edge Stones Throw Records keyboardist Kiefer fuses the celebrated heritages of jazz and hip-hop in an intimate club setting. Then, on other indoor stages, we present straight ahead jazz like Benny Green and Pascal le Beouf, representing the past and present of the tradition.

All shows start after business hours work on Friday, so local attendees need not worry about the festival interfering with their work schedule. What’s more, there are a number of public transportation options available to the general public. We’ve partnered with the VTA and light rail to keep everyone close, even if you’re not staying right in the heart of downtown.

By attending Summer Fest, you support a non-profit that has supported and celebrated jazz in the South Bay Area for over 38 years, teaching local students how to play instruments in cash-strapped districts, running Summer Jazz Camp to expose young musicians to the possibilities of jazz, and partnering with local organizations to develop arts & culture in your neighborhood. Thank you for supporting the arts in San Jose.

Sit, dance, or cheer – however you celebrate jazz, we’re there for it. Make your plans and buy your tickets today, before prices rise!
