Summer Fest turns 25!
Since our first two-day fest at Plaza da César Chavez in 1990, we’ve slowly expanded to create a weekend experience that’s one of our city’s cultural touchstones. The breadth of programming we’ve been able to develop through two and a half decades is just as eclectic as our community. Expect world-class straight ahead jazz alongside Latin jazz, salsa, R&B, funk, smooth jazz, fusion, world music and more.
We’ve just announced a few of the artists you’ll see: Recent Grammy® winners– from emerging Texas collective Snarky Puppy to celebrated San Francisco Latin big band Pacific Mambo Orchestra; New York Latin jazz powerhouse Pedrito Martinez; Bass legend Bootsy Collins, who rose to prominence playing with James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic; and the Otonowa Project, spearheaded by acclaimed drummer Akira Tana, which re-imagines celebrated Japanese folk melodies through the lens of jazz.
3-day passes are on sale now, at a special “Insider” price. Prices will rise as more artists are announced in May and June. For the complete story, read our press release. Be sure to also keep an eye on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds for more updates.
