Come to enjoy a Sunday afternoon of Jazz in Morgan Hill!

On Sunday, July 13 from 2pm - 4pm, Musicians from San Jose Jazz will perform in Morgan Hill at the Community and Cultural Center Outdoor Amphitheater. This is a partnership event of the Morgan Hill Recreation and Community Services Department and the Morgan Hill Downtown Association. Admission is FREE and you are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy during the concert or to stroll downtown after for a late afternoon meal. This will be the first time that San Jose Jazz has performed at a Morgan Hill venue and it will truly be a treat for the local community. Octobop: chart topping group presents cool West Coast jazz Cool jazz. Images of the early days on the West Coast when new ideas, harmonies, ensemble playing and great improvisation were all happening. Recreating and updating that experience is the mission of Octobop. Performing and promoting the music that began with The Birth of the Cool - and the innovations of Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers, Bud Shank, Bob Cooper, Dave Pell, Jimmy Guiffre, and Howard Rumsey among others - Octobop makes cool jazz hot again. The band features Geoff Roach (baritone sax), Matt Kesner (tenor, alto, soprano sax), John Worley (trumpet), Jon Schermer (trombone), Bill Hazzard (vibes), Jack Conway (guitar), Brian Brockhouse (bass), Roy Kaufmann (drums). Information about San Jose Jazz and the upcoming 19th Annual Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival (August 8 – 10) will be available at the afternoon concert, including information about volunteer opportunities at the Jazz Festival.
