San Jose Jazz in-school workshops bring jazz married with a strong anti-tobacco message to 5,000 children each year. Get Jazzed! was created in partnership with the City of San Jose and its Healthy Neighborhood Venture Fund. This year, San Jose Jazz is expanding Get Jazzed! by adding a cardio-dance variation. Our educators are professional musicians. Through our programs, the children learn music fundamentals, discover jazz, discover improvisation with musicians.
“There is a huge need to bring the value of art to young kids at a critical age. We pick up where schools can’t expose kids to music and the arts. Music is valuable in our society. We plant seeds. But there is a lot more to do!” -Geoff Roach, Executive Director, SJJS
