MUSIC DAY!
A French tradition, a world-wide success, a music celebration!
Unfortunately, there won't be a Fete de la Musique in Silicon Valley in 2010. But we hope to have it back in 2011.
On June 20, 2009, amateur and professional musicians of all genres and ages filled the streets with music. —and it was all FREE! No tickets, no wristbands and no auditions.

In Silicon Valley, Fête de la Musique took place in Santana Row, a lively, trendy shopping and dining neighborhood in San Jose, CA. Music will rock the streets at 4 outdoor locations and in participating restaurants. The event featured world-class French and Franco-American performers, as well as some of the best Bay Area musicians, performing music of all genres throughout the neighborhood.
What is Fête de la Musique?
Fête de la Musique (The Music Day) is the largest international music event in the world. Since its birth in France in 1982, Fête de la Musique has grown into a jubilant festival of free music now celebrated in more than 500 cities in 100 countries on five continents. Taking place each year at the summer solstice, hundreds of thousands of music fans take to the streets around the world to enjoy music of all genres performed for free by both amateur and professional musicians. The Fête de la Musique is above all a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who wants to perform in it. Visit the Fete de la Musique website (French Ministry of Culture).
Fête de la Musique Silicon Valley is led collaboratively by the FACS (French American Cultural Society), San Jose Jazz and Santana Row.
