Dear Jazz Friends,

I am writing to ask for your help.

In the past, you were a member of San Jose Jazz. I hope that the reason you left was not that you were displeased with the San Jose Jazz programs or the service you received. In these economic times, many people simply cannot afford to support organizations such as San Jose Jazz. You may know that in the process of producing the most successful Jazz Festival in its twenty-year history, San Jose Jazz lost $200,000 in revenue when two large companies withdrew their sponsorships. Since that time, San Jose Jazz and its Board of Directors have taken and continue to take every reasonable step to make-up for this unexpected shortfall. We have cut expenses, found new sponsors such as AT&T, held fundraisers, and received new grants from foundations and government agencies. Nevertheless, in these economically challenging times, it hasn't been enough.

As a former member of San Jose Jazz, you know about the great work that we do, so I won't bore you with the details here. One challenge that we always face is reaching the all people who enjoy and benefit from our programs. This is where you can help. You may have some friends and family who enjoy what we do. Would you ask 2 to 4 of your friends to help us out? It's easy. Just forward this email to them with your introduction and ask them to click on the link below.

Every contribution can make a difference. If 2000 people each donate $100 or if 2000 people ask 10 of their friends to donate $10, we can fill much of the hole left by the decrease in corporate, foundation, and government funding. We'll put a gauge on the San Jose Jazz website along with a list of donors to see how close we get to the $200,000.

Having been member of San Jose Jazz, you already made a difference. I know how this recession is kicking us all and you may not be able to make a monetary contribution or return as a member. You may know someone who could and you know him or her better than we do. Some of your time and influence will make a difference. Will you help?
