Every second and fourth Saturday during the spring and summer, San Jose Jazz presents local and touring jazz artists on the "square" outside of Lou's Village restaurant in Willow Glen. All performances take place on the restaurant's charming patio. Seating may be limited, so feel free to bring your own. Sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon!

The Jazz Beyond Stage at Summer Fest has a firm tradition of presenting innovative musicians that are pushing the boundaries of the jazz genre.

In conjunction with Universal Grammar, San Jose Jazz presents year-round concerts by emerging artists  in The Pagoda at the Fairmont Hotel, one of the best small spaces for live music in Silicon Valley.

Every so often we present and promote special concerts apart from our weekly series. Enjoy a special, intimate concert experience with nationally and internationally renowned artists, presented by San Jose Jazz.

Lou’s Village - New Venue!

1100 Lincoln Avenue, Willow Glen | Google map

Lou’s Village has a storied history in San Jose that makes it the perfect partner for San Jose Jazz. Opened in 1946 by Lou Santoro (grandfather of present owners Tom & Tim Muller), Lou’s was “the” spot for dining, dancing and banquets for decades. The original location, with its whimsical nautical décor, was a premier spot for live music featuring local and touring acts like The Ink Spots, The King Sisters, Abbey Lincoln, Mimi Hines, “Scat Man” Crothers and Lucille Ball. Lou’s finally closed in 2005, but was reborn in October 2012 in the new Willow Glen Town Center--in a spectacular space featuring many historic artifacts from the original Lou’s. At Lou’s Village, the food is a star, with original recipes (the clams are divine) alongside innovative new dishes. There is also a full bar. If you’re planning on dining at Lou’s before or during the show, reservations are recommended.

Parking
There is free parking available in the Willow Glen Town Center Garage. If the garage full, there is ample free street parking and free parking behind the buildings across Lincoln Avenue from the restaurant, between Willow Street and Minnesota Avenue.

25th Anniversary Fundraiser

The 2012 fundraiser celebrated the past, present & future of San Jose Jazz—music education and entertainment were both on the menu, as video, performances, auctions, food and fun celebrated creativity in our schools and in the community.

Beautiful centerpieces—each featuring 25 roses in tribute to the anniversary—and other gorgeous décor by Citti's Florist welcomed the guests. Wonderful silent auction items, including a private 60-minute performance by the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco and a whimsical “hound’s head” clock vied for the attention of bidders as they sipped fine wines. Vice-Chairman of the Board Dr. Robert Griffin introduced A Brief History of Jazz—In Celebration of Black History Month, (link below) a video featuring poet and historian Jym Marks, created by WMS media especially for the event.

Later, auctioneer Chris Wilder sent ripples of laughter through the room as he led the live auction. A video performance by San Jose Jazz’s Progressions Choir was featured as a preface to a Fund-a-Need appeal for the program.

The evening ended with dancing to the debut performance by the San Jose Jazz High School All Star Big Band, led by Dr. Aaron Lington. The band was exceptional; the guests lit up the dance floor to the classic standards and smooth sambas.

This sparkling evening was one of the most successful fundraisers ever for San Jose Jazz--we look forward to seeing all of you at next year's event!
