Blues, Jazz, Folk, R&B, World, Indie, and more. Starting April 6, San Jose Jazz serves up the best musical variety at the new San Pedro Square Market in downtown San Jose. Best consumed with food, drink and friends.
Downtown San Jose's newest "must-see" attraction, San Pedro Square Market is modeled on great food halls like Seattle's Pike's Place. Built around the historic fabric of the Peralta Adobe, the Market has food and gift stalls and a variety of bars and restaurants serving some of the finest food, beer and wine anywhere.
In partnership with the Poor House Bistro, San Jose Jazz now presents blues concerts every Thursday night! Come by the Poor House and enjoy the great music and wonderful New Orleans-style food. Be sure to tell your bartender or server that you're a part of the San Jose Jazz "family" and a portion of everything you purchase will support our education programs!
A counterpart to our wildly popular Summer Fest, our winter Jazz festival included a variety of established players and exciting Jazz upstarts—from straight-ahead Jazz to innovative young artists that are moving the art form forward, there was something for everyone to discover.
Highlights included an artist-driven collaboration by Ambrose Akinmusire and Gerald Clayton, Vocalist Jamie Davis, New York-based saxophone prodigy Grace Kelly, The Blues All Stars with J.C. Smith, Chris Cain & Maxx Cabello Jr., and Rupa and the April Fishes, a global group that mixes elements of Gypsy Swing, Colombian Cumbia, French Chanson and Indian ragas. These concerts were held at the intimate Theater on San Pedro Square, offering a unique opportunity to experience these artists in a personal way.
Other ticketed events included a Blues Dance Party featuring Summer Fest favorite Legally Blue and a Salsa Dance Party with the Pacific Mambo Orchestra, both held at the San Pedro Square Market. There was also a free “Club Crawl” featuring performances by great local Jazz groups at various bars and restaurants along San Pedro Street, which offered food and drink specials during the festival.
