Thank you for helping San Jose Jazz!

altA message from Geoff Roach, Executive Director of San Jose Jazz, June 2010

"
Thank you for helping San Jose Jazz.

I'll bet that all of you are just sitting on the edge of your chairs full of suspense waiting to hear about the results of the San Jose Jazz special fundraising campaign. (Ok, maybe you're not. I'm going to tell you anyway.) Counting the matching funds received from our supporters Jan DeCarli and Aart DeGeus, we raised just over $70,000. How good was that? In the same period last year, our memberships and contributions were only about $27,000. You all made a big difference!

A special thanks to Chris Wilder, Leon Beauchman, Laila Smith, Jack Conway, and Quincy Jones for telling us why they are jazzed about the upcoming AT&T San Jose Jazz Festival. Many other people wrote to us about why they are jazzed - the music, the community, the fun. We had many new supporters and many existing supporters increase their giving. As two supporters, Adriana Farkouh and Sharon Childress, said, "“We’re committed to the San Jose Jazz Festival…it must go on!”

Before we pop the champagne or sparkling cider or whatever appropriate beverage and celebrate too hard, remember that we fell short of our original goal. There is still time to become a member or make a gift. The festival lineup is on the San Jose Jazz website now. This year's festival has great music no matter what your musical preference is. Downtown San Jose on August 13-15 promises to off the scale from both a musical perspective and the fun meter. Investing in San Jose Jazz now is going to insure that we not only get past the 21st annual festival, but also we make it to 2011, 2012, and beyond. It's going to be tough in this economy, but together we can do it!

See you on August 13!"

By the way, it's never too late to help,

or become a member of San Jose Jazz.
